The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has been undergoing a major expansion and renovation including the addition of the new Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) North, a five-level, 750,000 square-foot expansion that will be accessible via a spacious 1,200 ft. long tunnel corridor with moving walkways from the Tom Bradley terminal. The project required adherence to strict building codes governing energy, VOC’s, and fire.
The design and construction team searched for an insulation solution that would meet or exceed all code and environmental requirements. Atlas EnergyShield and ACFoam products were recommended by industry experts due to their low VOC emissions and optimal R-value and fire performance.
In fact, Atlas products underwent rigorous testing to attain both the CALGreen Tier 1 requirement and GREENGUARD Gold certification. The addition of Atlas insulation will assist the build and design teams in reaching LEED Silver certification. See the full case study here.
